🧭 Step by step
- Land at Terminal 1 (United). Immigration, then customs. Show your Visit Japan Web QR codes. About 45 to 90 min.
- In arrivals, follow the signs "Railways / JR" (鉄道 / JR線) down to B1.
- Buy at the JR East Travel Service Center (red JR sign) or a red ticket machine. Say "N'EX to Shinjuku, one person". Ask for a window seat and the next train.
- Go through the JR gates and find your car number on the ticket. N'EX trains are white, red and black.
- Put your bag on the rack by the door. Set the code lock, and screenshot the code.
- Get off at Shinjuku (新宿), about 80 to 90 min. Don't get off at Tokyo Station or Shibuya.
- Follow "East Exit" (東口) signs → walk east about 15 min to 5-3-15 Shinjuku. Or take a taxi from the East Exit rank, about ¥1,000. Show the driver: 東京都新宿区新宿5-3-15
🚶 Shinjuku East Exit → hostel
🧠 "N'EX = NEXt stop Shinjuku." One train, no transfers. Get a Welcome Suica or add Suica to your phone at the airport for every other train this trip.
Backup: Airport Limousine Bus to Busta Shinjuku (on top of Shinjuku Station), about ¥3,600. Staff load your bag, but traffic can make it 90 to 120 min. Skip a taxi from Narita: ¥25,000 or more.

20 min🟢 JR Yamanote Line, platform 14, toward Shibuya / Shinagawa (渋谷・品川方面). Ride 8 stops → Shinagawa (品川).
15 min🔵 Stay inside the JR gates. JR Keihin-Tohoku Line, platform 5, toward Ofuna / Isogo / Tsurumi → Kawasaki (川崎). If an orange Tokaido Line train comes first, take it: 8 min, no stops.
12 min🚶 Leave by the East Exit (東口). Walk east about 750 m, past Keikyu Kawasaki station, to Horinouchi-cho block 7.
